Independent by design
We are not insolvency practitioners and we do not act for creditors. That independence is the reason our advice can be blunt: there is no process we need you to enter, and no creditor whose recovery we are protecting.

Phoenix Company Consultants Ltd is an independent director advisory firm. Directors come to us to find out where they actually stand, before HMRC, a lender or an insolvency practitioner frames the position for them.
Lines open 8am to 6pm, 7 days a week · Free, confidential and no obligation.
We work with directors of UK limited companies under financial pressure: PAYE, VAT or corporation tax arrears that are growing faster than they can be cleared; a Bounce Back Loan that cannot be repaid; an overdrawn director’s loan account; personal guarantees signed years ago and half-remembered; a winding-up threat that has just landed. Some are trying to save a viable trade. Others already know the company is finished and want to close it properly, without carrying avoidable personal exposure into the next chapter.
What almost all of them have in common is that everyone else in the conversation has an interest of their own. HMRC wants the tax collected. The lender wants the facility repaid. A creditor wants its invoice settled ahead of the queue. Each will explain your position, and each explanation is shaped by what they need from you. Our role is to be the one voice in the room that is working only for the director.
Our work is company insolvency and director advisory; nothing else. That focus is deliberate. It covers HMRC debt and enforcement pressure, Bounce Back Loan problems, business restructuring, closing a limited company through liquidation, overdrawn directors’ loan accounts and personal guarantees. We also provide the conversation most directors never get: independent advice before you engage an insolvency practitioner.
Two cases show the range of what that experience covers. A Northampton fencing and groundwork contractor was left unable to meet its tax liabilities after a downturn; liquidation, with the assets independently valued and bought at a fair price, allowed the trade to continue, and the new company continues to grow and thrive. An Oxford transport operator was accused of fraud and theft after unknowingly buying stolen, already-financed plant machinery; we set out to prove they were the victims rather than the culprits, and their business was restored, lost contracts retrieved and their standing recovered. Both are set out in full on our our work page.
We advise directors across the United Kingdom. The first conversation happens by phone or video, usually the same day, so where your company is registered makes no difference to how quickly you get an answer. Where meeting in person suits you better, we do that from our offices in Alton, Hampshire, Manchester, Leeds, Bradford, Birmingham. You can see all the areas we cover most often on our service areas page.
These are the standards we hold ourselves to on every case, from the first call onwards.
We are not insolvency practitioners and we do not act for creditors. That independence is the reason our advice can be blunt: there is no process we need you to enter, and no creditor whose recovery we are protecting.
Directors are told about preference payments, wrongful trading and antecedent transactions without ever being told what those words mean for them. We explain the position, the options and the consequences in language you can act on the same day.
Where a formal insolvency process is required, we introduce you to licensed insolvency practitioners, professionals licensed under the Insolvency Act, and stay alongside you through the engagement. Where it is not required, we say so.
We deal with company insolvency and director advisory only. We do not advise on personal debt or personal bankruptcy, and we tell you that on the first call rather than take you down the wrong road.
